I would definitely be interested in a private event at come point at Gingerman. I have a few friends (non-S2000) who would also be willing do come out I'm sure.

I was in the basically stock suzuka blue ap1. I never timed myself though, so I've got no idea how my times compared.

Glad to see old friends again, and make some new ones.
Had a great time, but am glad I skipped the last run, it was a very long trek home

I'd like to thank Austin and Pat for riding along and providing some pointers, to a slow guy like me
^^Surprised to see that wasn't my boneheaded off track in the posts above

See everyone next year

I had a great time this weekend as well. I think one thing I would like to be a bit more cautious of (after my last session I began asking around), is tire pressure. I felt like my first sessions on Saturday and Sun were good.. but the later sessions would follow a similar pattern.. Out lap.. doesn't really matter.. Second lap.. good.. third lap.. good... then the car started sliding a lot.. To compensate I'd be getting on the brakes earlier (especially on places like 3 and 7).
I checked the tires one time when I came off early and my tire temps were at 38. I'm running RE070s. Just wondering.. in those instances where the car feels like it starts sliding more and more... was letting more air out the direction I should have gone?

A friend of mine who does a lot of racing suggested that after every track event, I keep a journal... describing the turns, what I was doing, what I need to do, as well as some basic thoughts. Tire pressure was soemthing I didn't think much about... I figured.. 32 is what the door says.. Start, say, around 30.. and go from there.. Just a thought

Also, I'd like to thank Austin for making the suggestion (and then rounding everytone up) on Saturday night to walk the track. I think it did a world of good and seeing some of the elevation changes (especially between 2 and 3) was pretty interesting.

Hope to see everyone soon

It's a good thing to always check your tire pressure before you go out. They will always vary. Sometimes I check and see 36-38. other times if i let the car sit for a long time they go back down to 30-32.

I usually start out with 32 cold and come in 38 hot. Depending on session length, weather, car feel, and how much I have to kick out the back end for that particular track, I vary a bit.

Or you could spend the money on nitrogen (which i never have).

On Sunday I came back in after one of the sessions and saw 38 in the back.. (forgot to check the fronts)...

Do you guys let air pressure out at that point and get it back down a bit (and what are you targeting)... I'm trying to understand what made the car sooooo much more tail happy this time around then before.. (especially last year)...... I feel like going through 7-8-9 was fine but I was dumping all sorts of speed going into 10 so I didn't go weeeeeeeee~~~ (like i did once.. well, almost)...

I let it out if i'm going right back out. If the car is going to sit awhile I won't touch it until I know i'm about to go out.

What a great weekend guys! Tons of fun with great people. This is why I love the UMW so much. Big thinks to all of you for continuing to make me feel at home up here. Hard to believe I've only lived up here for a year. I'd be interested in an s2000 only track day as well. If youd like help organizing it Pat, let me know. I can talk to the management at Gingerman if we want to hold it there.

The new pavement on the inside of turns 1, 6, and 11 really help out do they not? I find myself taking tons of curbing in those three turns now. Sunday I was stop watched matching my personal best, when I stayed over Monday with CGI I was able to break it, so all in all I am happy. I'm really impressed with these Star Specs and highly recommend them to anyone. They are the same set I ran last year at WMHM as well as at multiple other events throughout the year.

As far as tires pressures go - since we are talking street tires - like Pat, I start mine at 32 cold. When I come in from the first session, they are usually up around 40-42 psi all around and I air them down to 36 since I figure its going to be hotter the next session. After that, I air them down to 37psi when I come in.

As far as the car feeling tail happy through turn 10...it could be a number of things. Your tires could be worn more than they were last year, your alignment could be a little different, you could be more comfortable in the car than you were last year and as such are moving faster. Turn 10 is one of those you just have to be patient with. It's off camber so if you are doing your braking at all after the track dips down, the rear of the car will get very light due to the weight transfer.

Hope to see you guys out on track soon. Hopefully I'll have video of that night run up soon. Chris oke:
