Need advice on a route
Hello,
In about 2 weeks I will be driving from San Jose, CA to Chicago. I will stop in SLC the first night then to Denver then off to Chicago. My question is that is there any recommended ways to get to Denver from SLC with nice scenery? I am just looking for some suggestions from some local people. We still want a safe trip, just want to get in as much mountains, rivers that we can. Thanks in advance.

Coincidentally I'm making that drive tomorrow. I'm taking I-15 south to Spanish Fork. Take the Hwy 6 west exit, Spanish fork Canyon. From there the highway goes over the mountains to Price. Not bad scenery. By the time you hit Price, the road lelvels out, and the scenery so so. Hwy 6 eventually runs into I-70 at Green River. Take I-70 west to Denver.
A side trip off I-70 would be Moab. About 20 miles from the hwy 6/ I-70 junction is hwy 191. Take it south 30 miles to Moab. From just north of Moab, you can travel hwy 128 north. This hwy travels along the Colorado River, and is very twisty and scenic. Hwy 128 joins up again with I-70 to Denver.
I-70 is boring until you hit Glenwood Springs. After that it's very scenic (for an Interstate).
Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip.
