Default Winter tires

I'm a new owner that hasn't gone through a winter yet. I'm pretty sure I need to get some winter tires. What have most of you used with success. I would like to go with the least expensive tire that is recommended, as I will go right back to summer wheels. I know this is a general question, but I prefer to go off referrals.

I would appreciate any help.

I would go with bridgestone blizzacks. I dont drive mine in the winter but these are what most the people on the board use. You can get them through tirerack or discount tire. Hope that helps

I've been running Blizzak WS-50's on my MR2 for 4 winters. They have been a great tire when the going gets sketchy. But they are very floaty and are not going to give you any sort of dry weather performance.

I just got a set of Dunlop M3 Wintersports for my Subaru. Since I haven't used them yet I have no personal data to relay, but they are rated almost as good in the snow as the Blizzaks, but are rated much higher in the dry performance categories.

definately the blizzacks. Midas is a bridgestone/firestone dealer. They are on state street in orem about a block and half south of the Mall. See Lenny there, he will help ya out. Tell him that Vernon sent ya and that you are on the S2000 board. He will be more than fair. They offer free flat repair and tire rotation (ok well, obviously not rotating on the s2k) but yeah, good place there, go check them out.

I use the Kumho ASX all seasons. Car is not likely to be driven much in the winter anymore as there are no more windows or heater in it!

I use Dunlop M3 Wintersports on my Benz and last winter they worked out great. On the dry days they work out really well too and are V-Rated.
