test pipe will reduce the drone quite a bit, but also make it quite a bit louder.

it smooths out the sound and makes it louder, and less drone.

wow, hope that makes sense.

from my experience with the resonated tp with the 63mm
kills the drone!!
and doesnt increase the loudness
hence why "resonated"

It might not always solve the problem. I think different exhausts react differently to different parts. I remember my friend had a 240SX and it was very loud. He said he was going to install a resonator, the next time I rode in his car I asked him when he's gonna put the resonator in. His reply "It's already in!"

It's impossible to gain the power of a test pipe, kill the drone, and keep the volume down. Can't have all 3. It's like wanting super soft grippy tires that last 25K miles.

Either the resonated TP will reduce the drone OR the sound, but i doubt both? Not positive, though.

when i installed the resonated tp and took it off a month later
difference was that there was no drone at all with the tp, and the resonated tp didnt make the exhaust any louder, but had better throttle response

w/o the tp, going uphill is killer.. drone kills u!! and the throttle response sucked

I plan to change my 70mm tp with a resonated one sometime in future.

i had the v2 63mm+tp . Honestly, it drones like hell between 3k to 5k,but not that loud though, very acceptable. it screams like an F1 when WOT till redline. the 63mm is alot better than the v1 70mm IMO. Cliff has the 70mm. My ears bleed whenever i drive his car. LOL

Interesting feedback.

I had the 70r, V1 and V2. They are both loud and drone some but not in an intolerable way. Well, that's what I was willing to put up with back then. Now I am not.

I think the 63 (v1) should be considerably quieter and drone less than any 70mm, right? Assuming regular TP on each.
