Default broke it in!

so today was the big day! after babyin it for the first 1000km shifting at 3-4krpm i headed out to the UBC highway and opened her up! man the engine sounds awesome! (in fact i like the sound better than the whining rotrary engine in the rx8..the s2k engine sounds more masculine & aggressive) indeed very addictive! had to deliberately slow down to let others pass then hit the tec again and again!

however, i was kinda of dissapointed that there wasn't really a distinctive sudden rush of power...i suppose the power is too evenly distributed? I owned a A4 1.8T ..although it's heavy and slow...the turbo boost was much distinct than the vtec in the car. Also, vtec do anybody find vtec impractical around town? as in..once we hit the tec..we're pretty much over the speed limit???

but all in all...the s2000 is an awesome car and a blast to drive!! wonder how it sounds like with the top down? gotta try that later!

Yes, it is very cool. I have had the car for three years now, and I still smile when I have the opportunity to VTEC. Have fun - be safe.

You should edit your title to read something like "Broke it in". The way it is, it sounds like you screwed up your car.

speaking of which..sometimes when i cruise in 2nd gear at a steady but relatively slow speed..i hear some sort of metal ringing (somewhere under the car probably transmission but i am not sure)..It shouldn't be grinding since i'm already in gear right? However, when i accelerate/give a bit more gas.. the sound disappears.

is this normal? I've read some similar post before about clutch ringing? but i assume that isn't the case because those problems are fixed in '05s?

What rpm are you hearing this noise from? it's probably best to get one of us to drive it at 8200rpm and listen to it

The clutch "buzz" was never really fixed. Honda put in a new clutch disc with heavier springs but this has not always eliminated the noise. It's not a mechancial problem. It's just noise. Turn the music up louder.
