sounds good...send pics of the connectors on the PA15-HON2. Question though, why didn't you go Headunit + Modifry route? I just looked it up and your USASPEC module is 145$
Those are the ports on the back

Those are the connectors of the adapter

Apparently won't fit each other.

I want to keep the factory unit because I like how it looks..just matching the interior.
Canadian 06 headunit is same is US 05 headunit. so when you order you have to get the 05 US headunit adapter for it work. that was the case for my grom audio adapter

I think you are right. I just got the reply from USA Spec they said the same thing

what alex said...if you have an aftermarket deck with modifry, you'll be able to use the controls on the side. therefore, you won't even have to have your radio showing in order to use the functions (change vol, change tracks, change source, mute...). PLUS you get more power for the speakers which in turn provide a better sound quality

OR you could do the opposite and do research on what brand and stuff ffirst, THEN try out the products in person.

Personally, the best headunit i've had is Alpine CDA-9886, which was a few years ago, priced at around 3-400$. I currently have Alpine CDE-133BT, and I could not tell the difference in terms of sound quality. I like the current deck better because of the bluetooth feature that allows me to stream my music from my iPhone to the car WIRELESSLY! The only disadvantage of my deck from the CDA-9886 is the display quality and the sub controls(I dont have subs, so it doesnt make any difference)
I'm interested in getting a Bluetooth HU to stream audio from my phone and had a couple of questions:
  • can you stream from your phone while the audio door is closed or must it stay open?
  • does the phone have to be out in the open while you are streaming?

1. yes u can. the audio door is just a door and has no connection in anyway with the functionality of your unit.
2. nope, bluetooth works wirelessly, that's why its so convenient. I usually have my phone in my pocket or in the middle part of the center console.

Thanks, rk604, those were the answers I was hoping for.

I bought a Kenwood HU that I haven't installed yet, but in the manual it said the BT device had to have a direct line of sight to the BT antenna in the front of the unit. If that were true, then the BT would be pretty useless to me.

yeah, bluetooth will work wirelessly, which is why they invented it! lol

I do find that my RF remote for my deck does not work with the radio door closed, but BT definitely does.

and also, BT is so convenient, I actually stream online music to my phone using "Songza" and it plays on my car speakers. Basically BT streams a stream, all wirelessly.

oh as an extra bonus, you can still pause/skip/rwd using your deck to control your phone's music player, including the streaming app

can someone please clarify something for me..I have 09 with stock head unit and no cd changer installed in the trunk. Does the car still have a cable plugged into the aux port and routed to the trunk even though i don't have the cd changer installed in the back? If so...what does the cable termination on the trunk end look like?

I installed the OEM CD changer in the secret compartment following Honda's instructions -- I did not have to go near the head unit. The CD changer came with a cable that runs from the secret compartment to a connector in the trunk. The cable in the trunk is behind the driver's seat and is accessible by removing trunk trim that is to the left of the spare tire trim. It's a white male 14 pin connector.

Hope this helps.

BTW, if you are interested in the OEM CD changer, I recently uninstalled mine and would like to sell it.
