Yeah i was pretty confused about the 2007 laguna that's "local".

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rc...480615308.html

The cluster shows the outside temp in C instead of F, so perhaps there might some truth to it being a Canadian car. Of course, the other 2 possibilities are: 1) Swapped cluster or 2) repainted car

Here's the info from the VIN he provided using ICBC's free VIN check that I ran

VIN Year Make Model
JHMAP21437S800057 2007 HONDA S2000
This vehicle's current status is: NORMAL (Source: B.C. vehicle registry.)

And in the emailed attachment of the ICBC Accident History Report, it shows Imported from outside BC: NO

So I went to view the FL imported 2008. What are your thoughts on this: 3 minor accidents $500-700. Missing VIN sticker on the driver side fender by the engine bay, and on the underside of the hood.

Thoughts?

The rest of the car checks out.

What's the asking price? Mileage? What are the accidents? Why is the VIN missing? How does it drive?

$23k, 65k km on odo, 3 minor accidents ranging between 5-800. No idea why the VIN is missing. I also noticed afterwards that the driver side front fender has a colour mismatch, and is also missing the VIN on that panel. Would 5-800$ in accident claims explain it or is that too low? Asked the owner if he knew anything about the hood being repainted or replaced and he didnt. The only thing I'm worried about is an undocumented accident that damaged both the driver side front fender and the hood (resulting in the 2 missing VIN stickers).

Good thing is that the current owner (even though he owned it for less than a year) seemed honest and has full documentation of everything done while the car was under his care.

Thoughts?

What were the 3 accidents though? If everything else checks out take it to the shop and put it on a hoist to make sure there is no frame damage. You may also want to pay a bit and get a mechanical inspection too. For an '08 with that mileage and the 3 accidents, it's priced about right.

After the inspection if you are still satisfied with the car, point out the paint mismatch and ask for a price reduction so you can get it repainted.

1 rear repair - $720 (icbc claim)
1 right front corner repair - $580 (that's not the driver's side fender right?, icbc claim)
1 left rear corner estimate $450 (estimate/accident)

The concern I have is that it doesn't really explain the hood.... unless right front corner repair included that which I highly doubt. All 3 incidents were in 2013 and no accidents shown from it's time south of the border.

The owner seems really firm about the price... don't know how much I can negotiate. Ill give it a shot though.
