Default quick question

I've got a question for all you experts who have had your S longer than me [6 days!]. I've noticed every time I shut my car off after a regular drive, it makes incredibly loud "ping" noises. Now I know all engines make those kinda noises as everything is cooling down, but these noises are quite loud and I was just wondering if I should get it checked out.

I've noticed it occasionally happens when I'm idling too, not nearly as often, but it still does happen. That's what got me a little worried.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. - I love my S....got my first kill tonight, my buddy's 2006 Eclipse!

you sure its not just the exhaust making the ping noises..

it seems to me the S makes exceptionally loud noises from the exhaust cooling down.. i thought someone was following me around with a beeper or something

When I first got my car, I wondered about that too...but I found out that it is the exhaust. So most likely the exhaust...

yea i think you guys are right. After I got home tonight, I just sat in my garage and listened to it for about 5 minutes. I'm almost positive it's coming from the exhaust now, thanks guys!

On an unrelated note, my friend's clutch was completely worn out after only 20k. He's fighting Honda about the warranty now. What would make your clutch burn out that quickly? It is his daily driver, but he doesn't drive hard he said, and he only took it to auto-x twice. I know the friction zone in an S is small, so you hafta match revs pretty well....but still, 20k?

thats not uncommon for a S, good luck with fighting honda for a new clutch, he's prolly fighting a lost cause.

is he the the orginal owner?? or were there previous owners, if there were previous owners they might have done the clutch in

however, if he's the only owner i too would duke it out with honda because i havent heard of any stock clutches going out @ 20K on a car thats not beaten to death

hey guys, just found out today Honda DID fix his problem for free. He said it was the master and slave clutch cylinders that were messed, and that Honda acknowledge pretty quickly that it was their fault.

So at least one happy ending!

I think he took it to Middlegate Honda, but I'm not positive...I'll double-check tmrw.
