Speeding Ticket
Thanks for all the input. The officer already knocked the price of the ticket down to $138 even though the alleged speed should technically justify a higher fine - I assume he did this knowing that my speed was not actually clocked. The money is not really the issue; I am more concerned about the points on my insurance.
Was I speeding? Probably. I wasn't looking at my speedometer at the time, so I couldn't say with any certainty exactly how fast I was going. I guess my point is the cop doesn't know either.
Even a reduced fine amount would still result in insurance demerit points (3 points regardless of the speed) - so if this is the likely result of going to court I might just pay it and avoid the hassle.

I'd fight it. He has no credentials to judge speed by "looking".
Be honest. I didn't look at my speedometer your honour. The last time I looked was doing XXkm/h.
Don't do or say anything that would disturb your credibility.
Should be an open and shut case.

straight up dispute it! he has no prove saying that you were speeding.
Now whether you dispute the ticket is up to you. It clogs up the system for people who actually need it and costs taxpayers money, but the system is there for the benefit of the doubt so if you feel that you were treated at all unfairly by all means dispute it.
