What are the DRLs supposed to be?
I just imported a US S2000 into Canada and had a local (US-side) dealer do the DRLs. I had thought that because they claimed to sell a lot to Canadians, that they would be the ideal place to get the DRLs done. The strange thing is that all they did was make it so my HID main beams turn on as soon as I turn the key. Is that normal? I was under the impression that DRLs were supposed to be your highbeam lights set to half the intensity. Can any Canadian S2000 owners post and describe what their DRLs look like? Thanks!
pretty much DRL are high beans on half, just like you stated, but it is much easier for them to hard wire your highbeams on by your ignition, and then run a relay that cuts when you actually turn on your headlights.
its a bandaid for the DRL fix, but not done correctly.

Your headlights wiill burn out quicker because of the usage if your hid's turns on right away. DRl is the Day time running lights that the US cars dont get. If it's not done correctly you could run into some shitty electrical problems in the long term. Good Luck

The Hamsar module is hard to find but works very well.
lol HID turns on when you ignite? Is this why I see bunch of car with HIDs on during the day. I honestly saw no point cuz HID does jack shit during the day. I guess it's purely for the look.
usually, higher end cars will run HIDs for day time runners when its dark or cloudy outside. I know a few MB do that. It depends on the make, but European cars are the ones who usually have HIDs on as DLR. But then again they use silly one sided parking lights too ??

That's incorrectly set up - the installer that did the DRLs in mine did the same thing. It will pass an inspection that way, but it's incorrect.
The correct DRL set-up is by running the highbeams at half brightness. The bulbs are simply run in series so each one receives ~7v (half of charging voltage).
I unplugged the negative side of the relay's magnetic coil on mine, disabling the not-correct DRLs, and I simply turn the headlight switch to the first click (corner markers) whenever it's overcast outside.

You can also go to Canadian Tire for their DLR module, I think it's about $25. Wire it in to your parking lights instead of your headlights. It will pass inspection and be cheaper on bulbs over the long run.
Won't look like OEM but that's a choice.
My 2 cents;
My preference was the high beams at 60% brightness. Small silver car, gray west coast days, wet roads and oncoming traffic. I want to be seen.
