Default 16x7 tire options

Just got a 02 ap1 that has aftermarket 16x7 wheels on it. They currently have 205 on all 4. If i plan on putting some track days in, what would be a good choice.
1) keep current rims and go to 225
2) get stock ap1/ap2 rims and do 225/245 setup

Even the stock ap1 wheels would be better than your current setup, they're 7.5" in the rear. AP2 Rims with 215f/245r or 225f/255r would be a much better setup. And 17" wheels look good on the S2000 imo, opening up your tire options as well in the process. A 255/40/17 will pair better than a 245/40/17 with a 225/45/17. With 215/45/17 front, run 245/40/17 rear.
Ap2 OEM size: 215/45/17 fronts, 245/40/17 rears. 7 inch front wheel (+55 offset) front, 8.5 inch rear wheel (+65 offset).

You can run 225/45/17 tires on the AP2 OEM wheels in front, but consider pairing them up with 255/40/17 rears if so for a better match. Otherwise your front tires would have a bigger diameter with the 225/245 pairing for 17" sizing.

Thanks for the detailed information! I just got my 03 AP1 ( no mod at all) with stock wheels and am planning to get some after market wheels. I have a question, if I choose 225/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear set up, do I need to roll the fender? I don't want to mod the body of my S.

Stay within the correct offset range and you will have no issues. If you go with OEM AP2 wheels. No need for any rolling. I was running ap2v1s lowered about 2 inches with 225/255 setup and never rubbed.

16x7 tire options = sell and buy wider 17s.

Option #2 all the way. Get rid of those wheels and tires they are not good for the S.
