Default 255's or 265's?

So I need a little help. To begin with I have an ap1 with stock suspension and no fender work. Car is on stock suspension as well. Wheels are as follow
17x8 +45 on 225/45/17
17x9 +45 on 245/40/17

I'm looking into getting new tires. I want wide tires for the back and was thinking of getting 265 or 255. I'm not looking to lowering the car soon and trying to avoid messing with the fenders/liners, but don't want to have an ugly stance as well with ugly poke. What would be best?

Car sits like this

255/40 would be the most compatible with your speedometer. It would also be friendlier to your fenders.

Would you recommend 255/40 all around or can I get away with a wider up front tire too? Like a 235 or something

225/45 up front and 255/40 in back is a good fit.

With those offsets I would stick with 225/45 and 255/40. It is also a better setup than 225/45 245/40 because the diameter is even with 225/255 but the rear tire is slightly shorter than the front with the 225/245.

Thanks for the suggestions and help guys. Greatly appreciated it. I'll be going 225/45 and 255/40. Now I just need to figure out what kind of tire to go with haha. Is their a big difference with the r-s3 or star specs?

RS3Pros:
slightly better absolute grip
Handle heat better
cheaper
smoother ride

RS3 Cons
need some heat to get the most grip
need higher psi and/or camber
not as good in the wet
don't last as long

D1SS Pros:
great in the wet
work from cold
just as grippy in cooler weather, if not more grippy depending on how cool
more responsive

D1SS cons:
more expensive
not as grippy when it is hot out
firmer ride
overheat more easily than the RS3

for street only the D1SS is a better tire (longer lasting, better in the wet, can get the most out of them even when the tire is not heated up). For combined use the RS3 is faster on a track, and faster on an autox course when its hot out

255s.

Star Specs.

Love it. Especially with a 225 up front.

Not with those wheels without modification to the fenders.
