Default 265's and a 1.5" Drop...

Hey all, I recently put a set of Work Meister S1 wheels and tires on my ap1. The size of the wheels are: 18x8 +56 in the front, and 18x9.5 +62 in the rear. Given the width of the rear wheels, I decided to wrap'em in 265-35-18's, and now I'm thinking about lowering my car. Since I don't want to be doing much suspension adjustment, I decided to go with springs as opposed to coilovers, and my choice of springs are the Swift Sport Mach Springs. They are said to be a lot stiffer than stock, and to lower the car by 1.5" front and rear. My question is, will I be able to run these springs without my tires rubbing on my fenderwells? By definition, when a car is dropped some negative camber takes place, and the top side tends to hide inside the fender, but I don't know if it will be enough, given that after the drop, the distance between the tire and the fender will be barely 1". I'm open to all advices, but I do not want to roll the fenders. Anyone running this type of setup or has any experience with what I'm trying to do? Thanks in advance.

I don't think i'm down 1.5", maybe closer to 1" on coils and have 265s on 18x10's. Custom offset but should be pretty close to your +62. No rubbing issues.

The one thing to consider is tire choice. I believe some have straighter sidewalls versus some with more curved sidewalls. My tires, dunlop fm901's stretched on the 10"rim have a bit of a curve that offers a bit more clearance. This may be why I've had no fender contact.

That's awesome! Thanks for the reply! Yeah I'm running 265's because they don't make Khumo Ecsta MX's in 255's...one thing though is that I think the sidewall on these is kinda like how you described it, they are a little curved because I don't see them bulking outside the lip of the wheel or anywhere close. The main difference is the drop amount. 0.5" can make a rubbing difference...hmmm...hopefully someone dropped a little lower with tires just as wide. Tell me what you think from the following images; this is how they look on the car without the drop:

Thanks again,

Funny how you are posting this now. Thank you. I'm about to purchase the same wheels from Evasive Motorsports. I'm planning to drop only one inch and I've heared also that there will be no rubbing issues with these rims. BTW, do S1's come with center caps?

Rev Happy: It's an amazing set of wheels, and I got them from Evasive as well! AMAZING service and the wheels are (imo) the best wheels you could ever put on an S2000. If you run 255's on the rear as they recommend, you'll have no rubbing issues, but the brand and type of tire I chose is not made in 255's, so I had to jump up to the next level, 265's. I spoke to the staff of Evasive today and they told me that chances are I won't have any problems, since I can have the camber adjusted a bit negative if needed. Now, every car when lowered will tend to show a negative camber, and hence chances are I won't need any type of adjustments. I'm just cusrious if anyone runs the same width of tires and is dropped 1.5" or lower, so I can have some advice from them.

No these wheels are manufactured WITHOUT centercaps, but they are so gorgeous that you'll forget about centercaps in a matter of seconds once you see them on for the first time lol

i just picked up a set off ssr's that are 19x8 all around with a +49 offset, what do you guys think would be the best tire setup for this, if the car is lowered about 1.5" or so...i don't want rubbing problems and want the best possible setup to avoid this...

thanks.
