Default 3m protection on wheels

Has anyone ever applied the 3m clear pain protection on wheels? Thinking of refinishing my bbs LM's and wanted to get the faced powdercoated and the lips polished. Has anyone ever done this to protect their rim? Please add pictures if so. Thanks.

Never seen it done on wheels. I think a multi piece wheel would be ideal since you could just do the face as I think it would get damaged it you did it on the lip.

Are you looking to protect the lips from curb damage, or something else? I have only ever seen verrrry minor damage to wheels from normal road debris. No way 3M fim will protect against any curb damage, and it would likely get damaged any time the tires are removed from the rim.

i have put some random pieces on my AP1 rims on he face of the spokes. It sticks nicely and will remain there for a long time. However, It will tear off with the curbs. It will work really well if you wrap the inner spokes as well. Cone rubs from autocross don't come out.

your mileage may vary.
