No surprise that forged TE37s in 17x8.5-9.5 weigh about the same as stock cast AP1 16x6.5-7.5 wheels.
Run 16" TE37s and you'd be ~34/36 lb.

10 lbs reduction off of rotating mass= 40 lbs off of gross weight. I was actually awake, that day, in physics class.
