The V12 came in second to the Dunlop Star Spec in a test the Car and Driver did here at Tire Rack. Good bang for the buck tire. If I can help let me know.

What test?
V12 came in 4th place in this test

Bfg comp 2 looks like a good option.

I am running the older model for dd in oem sizes and they r 4 years old and are like ice now. I might get some of the new ones for replacements.

This test back in 2009. http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...mparison-tests

These tests are funny because they factor in things that most people who track or autox their cars dont care about... like ride comfort and road noise.

I C. I do remember reading that test. Some key players aren't involved that are available now which likely is why the latest test shows them in 4th in category and IMO, even those it lost to would not be able to keep up with the Dunlop Star Spec. 5+ laps at most tracks will tell you that.

These reviews only really tell you how the tires compare when basically cold. The newest review has the Pilot Super Sport beating out pretty much everything... but thats because the PSS was designed to generate peak grip at these lower temperatures. The only faster guy Ive seen run these at the track said they fell on their face after 2 flying laps and it was, "like driving in the rain".

Like you said, take the same tires and test them for 5 flying laps on a road course and you'll likely find that the dry performance results will consist of the R-S3, AD08, Star Spec, and R1R sitting on top.

If you're going to have "low-budget" the last thing you should be skimping out on is tires.

If you're going to drive the s2000 like it was designed to be driven, oil changes and good tires are the two most important things to prolong its life - one to lubricate the motor - the other to prevent needless accidents.
