Default acceptable difference in O.D.

ive looked into spoon cr93's they recommend a 235-40 and a 265 40 for front and rear on the 17x 8.8 and 17 x 9.5. will the difference in outside diameter cause any flags to go off with the s2000's . besides the cosmetic look of being different will abs be an issue.
thanks in advance, just trying to find a nice setup for some 17"s

You mean 17x8.5 front, 17x9.5 rear, right? What offsets?

In my experience, the ABS can deal with a pretty big difference in tire diameters. I ran 205/45-16 fronts with 225/50-16 rears, that's more than 1.5" difference, ~6%. I definitely noticed more front braking bias prior to engaging ABS, and when ABS did engage it was obviously modulating the fronts only, but it worked fine at the track.

You're talking about a 1" difference, or ~4%. Shouldn't give you any problems, but the general recommendation is to keep the difference less than 3%. The good news is that having fronts smaller than rears will give more front brake bias, which is safer than the opposite (smaller rears than fronts => more rear brake bias => less stable under braking)

But there are a TON of other size options for 17x8.5/17x9.5 wheels (assuming you meant 8.5" where you have 8.8), depending on your offsets.

You could easily go 245/40-17 fronts with 265/40-17 rears (<3% difference).
You could even go with 255/40-17 fronts if offset isn't too low.

255/40-17 fronts with 275/40-17 rears is also not a problem with those widths.

Or, if offsets are an issue, you could go 235/40-17 fronts with 255/40-17 rears.

Front size options: 225/45-17, 235/40-17, 235/45-17, 245/40-17, 255/40-17
Rear size options: 255/40-17, 265/40-17, 275/40-17

I would pick my ideal tire make/model first, as that will likely further reduce your size options. Better to get the right tire for your usage and compromise a little on size than vice versa, IMO.

You forgot to add the option of 255 front and 255 rear.

255 on an 8.5" is fine (that's the OEM CR size) and 255 on a 9.5" rim is also cool (probably right in the middle for ideal 255 sizing).

And, due to the rim difference, you'll still have a staggered contact patch with slightly more grip in the rear. A 9.5 and 10" rim are better suited to utilizing and maximizing a 255 tire than an 8.5" rim.

ok first off my rear camber is -2.25 and the fronts -.30
if i decide on 17 x 8.5 in the front and 9.5 in the rear what offset should i look for. i will be doing a slight roll and rear tab relocate. et 50 the most on the front and 55 on the rear?
any wheel suggestions that fit that bill besides ce28 and re 30, thanks
I definitely want to shave a few lbs. off the wheels on this project.
