Default Advice on new tires for 2001 S2000

Help friends,

I picked up a sheet rock screw in the right front (Bridgestone Potenza 205/55/R16 91H)of my 2001 S2K. It's unrepairable, of course.

So, any advice on replacements? Rear tires are still good (for 4 year old tires).

Mainly a daily driver now, though it's only got 55K on the odometer! No autocross, and I just let all the good ol' boys beat me off the lights in their F-150's.

The current tires were all replaced about 4 years ago, so I'm open to either replacing just the front, or possibly front and rear.

Thanks in advance!

Matthew

Any possibility of usage on snow/ice/cold?
It sounds like performance isn't a primary concern, and that you don't put a ton of miles on the car, so wear life likely isn't a big concern either.

What *exact* model of B'stone Potenza do you have on the car now (there are many very different tires called "Potenza")?
If you just replace the one front or both fronts, you want to be sure the new tires have very similar performance characteristics to the rears if they aren't the same exact model of tire (again, there are *many* different models with*very* different performance that have the same name, so be careful here).

Tons of info including survey results and test results at TireRack.com

The big thing you want to avoid in replacing just your front tires is going with front tires that have a lot more grip than your rears.

Thanks for the response!

Bridgestone Potenza G009 205/55R16 91H on the front.

Bridgestone Potenza G009 225/55R16 on the rear. I was told the tire is no longer manufactured.

No snow or ice, but it can get cold. I live in central Georgia, US and if it snows here the city shuts down!

Low miles due to walking and bicycling to work (Thanks for sharing the road!) I just drive it to church on Sunday (tee-hee-hee).

One of the local Bridgestone dealers recommended the "Touranza" 80K tire, I've checked out TireRack and was thinking more along the lines of the "Potenza G010 Grid", but I've seen other post recommendind a RE-11.

I posted to the forum trying to get the scoop from other S2000 owners. Where I live, even the mechanics don't know what I'm driving! Here's a quote, "Automatic or stick in that thing?"

Any and all info appreciated!

Matthew
