Default Another question

Ok i found a set of wheels for a good price.
Good: Only 300 miles on the rims and tires
Bad: 17x7.5 all around with 215/45/17 all around +45 might be +35
i will know in the mourning.

Does this seem to be a problem?
I have a 2002 with stock suspension.

Let me know if either is a problem or a bad idea in general

the car is RWD keep the setup staggered, running a 215 in the rear is not a good idea

What do you mean when you say "50 series tire"?

Does that have something to do with the particular brand of tire you like?

If you're talking about the tire number, such as "225/50R16", then the "50" in there is the sidewall height. 225/50 is not the same height tire as a 245/50 (the "50" indicates that the sidewall height is 50% of the section width - the first number, like "225" or "245"). 225/50 tires have a 112.5mm sidewall (225mm * 50%), while 245/50 tires have a 122.5mm sidewall (245mm * 50%). Sidewall height can drastically change gearing, acceleration, cornering...pretty much everything - not to mention it throws the speedo and odo off. Suffice it to say that a 245/50 tire on a 17" rim would be very far from spec, resulting in huge speedo inaccuracy and much taller gears (not good for a stock AP1).

Since you're going to use 17" wheels, you need to drop those numbers down a bit. 215/45R17 for the front is fine, but you really want a 245/40R17 in the rear. Depending on your driving abilities and the particular tires you're running, you may even want to drop that front tire down to a 205/(45 or 50**)R17 to dial in a bit more understeer (when using non-OEM tires).

** 205/45 will be slightly smaller than OEM spec, while 205/50 will be slightly bigger. Makes very little difference either way, since the front wheels are used only for steering. Smaller sidewall is better for cornering, while larger sidewall helps cushion shocks from pot holes and such.

Sorry for the huge explanation. I'm bored and trying to avoid cleaning the bathroom. Time spent typing is time not having to scrub the tub.

Thanks, ive considered all ranges of tire sizes and just wanted to know what size would fit in the back. As much as i dont drive the car and never ever go to the track ive decided on keep the front tires slightly bigger for the front. 215/50/17 to keep cushion on the shocks, it doesnt ride as rough. As far as the rear, havent decided where im gonna go with that. Depending on looks 245/45/17. As far as speedo ive used a gps system so see how far its off and they say they are about the most accurate thing you can find to figuring out a speedo. Its off by 1mph using a 215/50/17. So im thinking like you say since its not good to gear A ap1 high to drop it lower 245/45/ maybe 40. i was just wondering what i could fit under the fender safely withought rubbing, riding good, and looking good.
