Default Anything wrong with mixing different tires?

I'm currently running S-03s:
225/40-18 in Front and 255/35-18 in the back which I bought last July from the tirerack to go along with my BBS RGR's.

It's been about 5,000 miles since then (Because of winter) and the rears are completly BALD!! I'm way past the wear indicator with not a single hint of tread left on them. It hasn't rained in weeks around here so when it finally did yesterday, it scared me to death to drive the S. The back end wouldn't stop sliding out on me so I'm not driving her again until I get tires.

However, seeing as the last pair only lasted me 5,000 miles, I can't justify spending another $500 on the S-03s. Yes they're a great tire, but seeing as my driving style burns out tires anyway, what's the point of dropping all that money and then have to do it again by the end of summer.

I'm currently looking at the Dunlop Direzza DZ101's which are much more reasonable in the price range and actually look just like the S-03s.

My plan is to buy these for the rear so it'll last me the rest of the year, and come next year when the front S-03's will probably be worn out, I'll buy all 4 of another tire. Anything wrong with this?

Thanks in advance.

The car will most likely not be as stable and handling can get very quirky. I wouldn't do it.

nothing wrong if you're using as daily driver...don't push it and don't drive in the wet.

I wouldn't sweat it. It might ride 'different', just like changing your air pressure, but it won't automatically make it 'unstable'.
There are much more drastic things that people do everyday that radically affect handling. sway, springs, coilovers, plus size, tire size...

Just make sure it's still a good quality tire and it's not on backwards or something really stupid.

The Dunlops are not near as sticky as the S03's and it looks like the contact patch is smaller on the Dunlops. You may find yourself with a bit of oversteer, or at least a change in that direction.
