Are AP2 V1 wheels on AP1...an upgrade?
No need to wait for flamers. You can check the flame retardant in your suit by noting the number of guys who are ditching 17" wheel for 16" wheels. The bigger that number the less flame retardant you'll need.
Right now the count is zero (0)... Many have retained the 16" wheels, of course, but the only reason seems to be to preserve originality.

I'm having a really hard time finding a set of used AP2 wheels in Sweden and am therefore thinking of buying Toyo R888R for my AP1 rims in 205 front and 225 in the rear. Is it really necessary to have that extra 245 in the rear??
NO, 245 rears are not "required". I wish they'd just delete that stickie...
Sensing a pulse on this thread...
Recently purchased used AP2 V2’s for MY00”.
Rubber I’m using Bridgestone Potenza Re-71R. Front 215/45 and Rear 245/40. There are two things I noticed right off the back. One, the S looks way sexier and Two, the S feels way heavier
. The S makes 420whp and my gosh can you notice the difference in weight. I was running the OEM AP1 wheels for the longest time.

Old thread is old but I found this old post.
The weights aren't that different. You did pick one of the stickiest street tires available so wondering if it feels heavier since the tires are that much stickier ie you aren't spinning the tires as much? Pretty easy to weight your ap1 wheels and tires and the ap2 wheels and tires to see the weight difference. Thinking the difference in tire compound and maybe contact patch is a bigger factor here than the overall weight.
