Are AP2 V1 wheels on AP1...an upgrade?
Great point about the tires being stickier...smh I should have known better. And after seeing the numbers in weight difference, yeah totally can’t be the weight.
Mind you, this is the first time I ran 17s and as soon as I drove off and did a pull I was like oh man. Thanks for the info!
I was running the extreme contact Continental On the 16s.
I luv the way the V2’s look, will keep them for a very long time.

I went from 16's to 17X9 with a square setup on stock power. Much heavier .. if you can feel the weight difference in yours with 450 hp then you must have the most sensitive feel on earth lol, cause even with autocrossing the hell out of mine and lots of time spent on setup, weight was the thing I did NOT notice. It of course was a lot harder to break the tires loose for a good hard launch, but going from stock to much sticker 255's accounts for that.
The "general" rule for racing was to run the smallest diameter wheels that fit over the brakes. But that is an over generalized comment and assumes you can get the tires and fitment you need (and that gearing does not matter as much to you) and also kind of assumes it is a pure race car.
In the real world, good options for sticky tires for the stock sized wheels are severely limited to say the least. Does no good to have smaller, lighter wheels if you cant get good sticky tires to run on them
So unless you
A) are just trying to keep it stock looking
or
B) are running in SCCA Solo B Street (Where you cant to to the AP2 wheels due to rules)
then I can see nothing but benefit from running the AP2 wheels. It will make your tire shopping experience much better if you want to run competitively sticky tires.

Do you enjoy the square setup around the track and on street?
The fact that you get more options with the 17’s and how beautiful it looks, I don’t think I’ll switch back to 16’s. I’ve had the 16’s for over 5 years, and totally felt the difference when I drove off. I came on the forum to check if the wheel weight was different cause it totally felt that way, but apparently not! Still glad I made the change. Going to get the wheels cleaned up professionally and enjoy the ride. By the way, I no longer loose traction coming out of 1st and 2nd, luv it.
