It is really inconvenient when someone lays out a clear post with a bunch of facts that dispute your position, isn't it?

He's right, a manufacturer risks very large penalties (or lawsuits) if their wheels don't conform to the standards they say they do. I'd be 100% comfortable with those wheels on any of my cars for track or autocross use. They're not as light as they could be but people can decide for themselves if they would get more benefit from a tiny bit of unsprung weight or a couple of trackdays or driving schools.

Lets be honest; most people buy fancy wheels for the status and looks, not for the weight gains. Ask yourself if you would remove the brand labels from your wheels. If not, you didn't really buy them because they're lighter.

Replica is just that.. It states that it is a knock off of the original design. No R&D, perhaps no to little quality control, and most likely different manufacturing guidelines. This is not an opinion, but facts. If anyone believes otherwise, it's their opinion, and they are free to believe as they do. However, I would think that they also believe that the words "Rolex" and "Authentic Swiss Movement" on the $12 watch they bought is also the same as the original merchandise.

As for the pot shots by those who do not know me, (cough) Turbosix.. (cough) Turbosix... The better part of your intelligence was lost this morning when you sat down.

Ok, I see you point. Please see mine above that refers to writing on "replica" products and the things written on them as well.

If these wheels said "Honda" or "Enkei" on them, I would agree 100% with you. But they don't.

Here is an owner of wheels and caps replica wheels that has been autocrossing with them for 18 months.

http://s2000.com/forums/want-to-buy-trade-...eels-tires.html

If I have any issues with these wheels I will post them up. If I thought they were poor quality I would have definately sucked up the shipping costs and sent them back. Or even thrown them in the trash if I had an issue boring them out.

I am very satisfied with the $260 shipped I spent for these two replica wheels to make my car have a non-staggard setup.

The finish on the OZ Superleggera's on my Legacy GT aren't as nice as these wheels. I appriciate all your brand loyalty and all but if you do some research online you can find that huge numbers of OEM Toyota wheels are manufactured in China.

If I crash and burn on track because I bought these wheels then at least I will be going out doing what I love.
