if you want cheap wheels id go with Rotas...i have had 3 sets and never had a problem. Plus there making a few different wheels in S2000(unrolled) fitments. But S2000 friendly offsets usually equal boring stockish fitting wheels, go with lower offsets and cut+roll.

Hi all.

I am "starting my whoring" and wanted to know if any one here has kept these wheels for more than a year or two. Are they reasonably durable? My S is my daily driver and I live in an urban area. I don't want wheels that I'm going to throw away in a year.

Also, why are people making a big deal about the weight? Tirerack lists the AR1 (21lb) as only 1lb heavier than BBS LMs (20lb) in 17in??? Is that actually significant and isn't that pretty close to the new OEM wheels?

I like mesh style wheels and am wondering if these are worthwhile or whether I should just save up for a set of BBS LMs.

Does Rota make mesh wheels? I notice TireRack doesn't carry them, any idea who does?

The more I think about it I am leaning towards saving up for some BBS wheels.

Wow, lot of topics going on in here. To the high end wheel haters, you don't have to hate and no you don't have to spend 3k on baller wheels. Look at the used market, I've seen several nice set of Volks, BBS's, Works, SSR's, Weds, iForge, CCW's, Jlines, etc and other premium brands in the for sale forum. You can find them with tires for less than 2k sometimes less than 1500. I recall a set of Volk RE30's that were selling or 1300 shipped if I remember right?

I was in the same boat as you, I looked at the ASA's but the weight of the wheels threw me off, the questionable quality of those and the lack of the correct width I was looking for. I ended up looking at the used market and I paid less for my Wed Sport TC005's used than I did for new ASA's.

I'm not knocking the ASA's because I run Rotas Subzero's on my TSX with zero problems also. To each their own. Food for thought, eat it if you're hungry. If not, ignore everything that I have said.

^^^ Thanks for the input.

I think a set of used BBS wheels might be a good idea. I'll be keeping an eye out on the sales forum.

I like the look of the asa's, and when they are saying that they are heavy, I think they just mean for a wheel in general. a few pounds makes a big difference. The rota's are lighter and still look good and are inexpensive as well.

Good to hear that these things aren't junk. You just can't beat the price. Still torn between buying used BBS or saving up for new ones and just going for the ASAs.

I think the fact that ASA is licensed by BBS to build the AR1 means they can't be all that bad.
