Default attn: Jim/snow tire size question

I was wondering if tirerack has blizzak ws-50 snow tires in 215/55R16 rear and for the front 195/55R16 with steal rims and your opinion on the tire sizes.. I think most people on the forum go with stock sizes.... but i want something really agressive for lots of snow.. I am attending school in buffalo.

The best is either run 205/55R16 all the way around or go with the 225/50R16 rear with the 205/55R16 front. The snow tires will be narrower than the stock S02. If I can help let me know.
Thank you

Is there a disadvantage to having the tires too thin?? I would think the thinner the better right? What are your reasonings?
