Default Jim ... Snow Tires

Jim, or anyone else with an opinion ...

Would their be an advantage to running OEM front sizes all around with Blizzaks?

Would this cause problems on dry roads?

I'm thinking a narrower tire in the rear would be an advantage in snow but am concerned with regard to how this would effect handling for dry roads etc.

If you lived in an area like Buffalo NY the 205/55R16 woulod help. Otherwise I would run the 205/55R16 and 225/50R16 in the snows. Even doing the 225/50R16 rear would be narrower than the stock S02 by 1.6". The car will handle better in the dry with the stagger also.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you

Thanx Jim,

Would the LM-22 Blizzaks be the preferred snow tire for the "S"?

Your website doesn't offer much help for snows for this car.

Ed:

I ran the Dunlop Winter Sport M2 last winter & they worked fine. I've also heard good things about the Blizzaks.

I'm not sure where "Mequon" is but the brand and model of tire is dependent upon how much snow you get and how long during each winter you have it. LM-22s are a good winter snow tire for those who also want some high speed stability. A more aggressive snow tire will be very "spongy" at speed on dry roads. I'm using the now-discontinued Blizzak MZ-01s (an aggressive winter tire) and I get maximal grip in fairy deep snow but I must be careful on dry roads to not exceed the tires capabilities. If price is no object, then look at the Michelin Alpin series of snow tires. These offer excellent deep snow traction and high speed stability.
Here is a link to a local thread showing vids of a snow drag race we had a couple of years ago. Both the MZ and the Alpin equipped cars came out way ahead of the LM cars. In winter, I prefer max snow/ice grip to high speed capabilities.

Thanx "X" and Tom,

I'm in Wisconsin and the "S" is not a daily driver.

Just looking for something that would get me through fresh snow if I am out and about ...
