Default Best Performance Winter Tire

I have decided to take everyone's advice and get winter tires for the S. I am going to go be putting them on AP1 wheels. What are a good performance winter tire? We dont get a lot of snow in MD but we get our fair share of ice. We also get our fair share of very nice winter days w/ no snow or ice.

What tires will give me a balance (and lean towards dry performance) but still give me good traction in snow and ice?

I was leaning toward the M3's since I found a really good deal on them.

I am also going with the M3s here in Cincinnati, but I have no real-world experience to share yet. They come highly recommended, and the dry preformance is said to be quite good for a winter tire.

i had wintersport m3s last year, for the winter in chicago. worked great. no problems even in thick snow/sludge, as long as you drive safely. highly recommended.

edit: oh, and i thought they handled way better than the summer tires i have on there now (some crappy yokohamas that came with the car). car felt great with them on.
