The tires were not new and my fellow S2k drivers were slightly impressed, NegCamber being one of them.
LOL...I think I was impressed with your driving skill on such crappy tires more than the tires!!

Hi negcamber, would I be compromising something in the car's handling if I go with 225/45 x 17 and not the 215/45 x 17's for the Front tires and still opt for the wider 255/40 x 1 for the Rear ones ?
I know many AP2 owners with the 225/255 stagger...I run that on my car, and it is my favorite stagger at the moment.

I think you would be ok with that.

Very good, negcamber and thanks. I will try to go with that combo. I usually like to go with wider tires whenever I am due to change them.

I know a guy who moved to the States from Malta and it took months for his stuff to arrive by sea.

Maybe a stiffer adjustable front sway bar would help keep your tail in line. Or perhaps a CR sway bar.

Good luck!

Tx, I will keep the stiffer adjustable front sway bar in mind, CKit. Has the guy who moved over here from the US relayed any feedback to you about our roads ? They kind of defeat 50% of whatever you try to do to improve your car's roadholding !!

IMO, here are the tires you should be considering:
215/45-17F, 245/40-17R
215/45-17 F, 255/40-17 R
225/45-17 F, 255/40-17 R
Hi Zdan, negcamber and all,

Re the above tire sizes you had recommended use, the first line of sizes are the oem sizes. The other two are slightly wider tires. The thing is, on the 225 and the 255 you indicated the same profile as the oems. The local Dunlop agent has pointed out to me that this will result in a larger rolling circumference and tyre diameter. According to him the adverse effect of this is that the car's speedo will be out of calibration.

I overlooked this myself, too. Usually when I went to wider tires, the profile was reduced to ensure that I stuck to the oem rolling circumference and tyre diameter.

What are your views on this ?

The speedometer calibration difference is minimal. 1.3% slower reading with the 255/40.

Tx negcamber for your reply !

Folks,

Is there any chance of having any tire-rubbing issues with the 225/45-17 Front, 255/40-17 Rear
set-up on th AP-2 ?

FYI the 255/40/17 rear tire with a 225/45/17 front, as I've been running leads to an almost exactly correct speedometer reading. Stock setup on my AP2 read too low. before it read 70 when I was going 65-66mph, now it is within 1mph when it reads 70 on the speedometer. fyi, i'm using three different GPS systems at the same time on level ground with cruise control to figure this out...
