Default BFG R1 tire question

I came across what I think is a good deal on a pair of tires. But I can't find any info on them online because I believe the tires are discontinued. The guy said they are bf Goodrich R1 tires but when I google it the pictures show that they have no tread like a slick and his tires have tread. I called bf Goodrich and the lady I spoke to didn't know much but she said that they had 2 styles of r1's, one that's discontinued and the one they still make. I'm getting a pair of 265/35/18 bfg r1 for $140 brand new. Good deal? Now my questions

1- He said the tires are brand new never been mounted or heat cycled but they are 3 years old. Are the tires still good or would they not perform right?

2- I don't track or autocross my car, I'm just looking to have good traction on the road (straight line). Will these be good for that or just good grip for autocross once heated?

3- I daily my car, about 5 days a week 20 miles per day but I don't drive in the rain and my rear camber is set at about negative 3 or 3.5. Will I eat through them too fast?

Any info on these tires will help. Thanks!
Here's some pics

Not a good deal since you don't have 4. If you buy them as spares then sure but I wouldn't run them paired with some other tire.

As I had already said above, I dont track or autocross so I dont need a full set. I'm just looking to get better traction out back so I don't break my rear tires loose in a straight line. If I'm wrong let me know and please exuse my ignorant tire knowledge.

So you don't break loose in a straight line? What are you doing in a straight line that causes this? Also doing this can cause the can to under steer which can be just as bad. Knowing nothing about this tire and the fact that a good search and calling the manufacture yielded little info I would be even more skeptical. It could provide to what you want or it could have worse grip than another tire that has a wider operating temp and you would run all around. Further they have just been sitting for 3 years so that could have an effect on them. For me there is just to many unknowns. If you want to take the chance go for it but I would not run them on my car.

Yes so i dont break loose in a straight line. I'm making 340 to the wheels and my car weighs 26xx lbs, my 255 street tires just don't grip. They have to be decent tires I mean they were in production for 11 years. I figured if they werent good they would have seized production way before. I guess I'll check them out tomorrow and check the DOT code to see exactly how old they are. I was just kinda hoping there was someone on here that had them in the past and could share their experience.

It appears as if these tires come stock with 3/32" tread depth. This, combined with a very soft compound is going to leave you VERY little usage on the street. I'm also highly skeptical of this tire's ability to handle any level of water safely.

Bottom line, I would look for a different tire. Any new, extreme performance tire is going to be a better option than these.

That the info I was looking for, I'll pass on them then. I'll look for better tires else where. Thank you
