I have an ap1 I just purchased with Bridgestone S-02 tires. The fronts are 12 years old and I will take them out of service for that reason. The rears are only four years old. They have very low miles on them, my guess is they have 90% of the original tread left. The tires have been on the car during winter storage all four years. Winter temps in the area are regularly below zero fahrenheit.

Are the rears ok?

 

It's probably best to not store tires like these in those kind of temperatures. I would still use them. Doesn't take long to burn through a set of rears. Just be extra careful at first, to make sure they feel normal.

Personally, I never store my car in our northern new england winters with my good tires. They go in my heated storage shed or basement. I throw a set of all seasons on the oem wheels for storage. I may end up using these tires and the oem wheels just for storage.

BTW - in every other respect this car is gorgeous and very well maintained. One mature enthusiast prior owner, regular maintenance, bone stock, oem hardtop, original paint in excellent condition. It is a gorgeous car, stunning actually, it looks like it just came off the show room floor. I found it listed on craigslist and I could not resist. It was immediately apparent that the new owner is a great guy and completely trustworthy. I bought it sight unseen. My current car is great also. But this one is incredible, and I prefer the color.

It is a bit of a time capsule. Its hard to bring myself to drive it. But, drive it I will. With gusto.

 

Had SO2's on mine for probably it's 1st 12 years or so. Car is just parked in my unheated garage with temps similar to yours, if not colder, and I never had a problem while I used them.

As long as you dont run them during those sub zero temps they will be fine. R-compounds are really the only ones that suffer from being killed being stored in cold weather anymore.

 

The only real issue along these lines that I've heard of involved Dunlop race tires, sub-zero storage, and cracking.
