I am interested in purchasing these in the black with machine lip. I am currently running stock suspension and will have 215/45/17 tires up front with 255/40/17 tires in the rear (although I can go 245/40/17 since I will be picking up new rear tires as well).

I don't plan on lowering but noticed that the rear offset is a bit aggressive, but you mentioned you had no rubbing issues. I want to make sure as I have no plans on modding or rolling my fenders in anyway.

I was also concerned about the quality since the price seems really good, even for a replica. Having had them for a while now, can you comment on it? Any chip or scratch issues (especially from washing the car)? What kind of warranty did they come with?

Jim - any thoughts on these rims as carried by Tire Rack? I hope to purchase two new rear tires and four rims in the near future (a week or so) and want to get some opinions on them. If you have any other rims (either black with machine lip or white colored) for a decent price that will fit the S with no mods, please let me know.

Thanks!

I only have 245s on the rear but have had zero rubbing. I can't comment on the 255s on that size, especially with a summer tire that has a more square profile to it.

Quality is fine. Like any polished lip, the clear coat will chip eventually. I use these in the winter which means they see a lot of salt/sand and cold, which isn't great for them. I'd say they're average for holding up against the elements. The main spokes hold up great - it's the lips that tend to have some flaking on the clear coat. I only wash my wheels with a soft wheel brush so I'm gentle on them BUT again, they have a lot of sand/grit on them throughout the winter.

We don't usually get salt or dirt during winter here. I can run a 245 size tire on them in the rears. As long as they dont rub or force a fender roll/mod, I am fine with that.

I plan on cleaning them with soap/water and a fresh rag as I have less dust pushing brake pads on.

Thanks for the information. I don't have rough roads or anything but I do go past a few rail road tracks on my daily route and wanted to make sure those wouldn't be an issue (shouldn't be). For the price, it just might have enough bang!!

Thanks!

IMO I would buy the real deal used because when you sell you will get all your money back (as long as you haven't damaged them)
No it would not.....reps are cheaply cast..... real lm's are forged..... hence the price difference.....get what you pay for.

Train tracks aren't a problem. I have a couple of bad ones I cross on a daily basis and they've held up fine. Honestly, they've been pretty bulletproof to date, structurally speaking. No bends, no cracks, no dents - just some clearcoat flaking on the lips. Regular cleaning with proper soap (and a coat of wax) will do wonders!

Glad to help - post up pictures if/when you get them. I'd be interested to see how the black/silver wheels look on the car.

That is good to know. Feeling good about making this purchase. Plan on doing so once I get word back from Jim at Tire Rack on which tires to go with. I know I will do 215/45/17 up front and 245/40/17 in the rear. I am leaning towards the Continental ExtremeContact DW (also come with free mount and balance from Tire Rack) but am also thinking of the Sumitomo HTR Z III tires. I'm a little worried the Sumitomos will have too much road noise and that the wet traction isn't good enough. The Contis have great wet and dry traction ratings for only a little bit more in cost. I'll post up pics once I get them on the car. Should be in about 2-4 weeks.

Looks like it will be the ASA AR-1 Black with Machine Lip in 17/7/48 Fronts and 17/8/45 Rears on Continental ExtremeContact DW 215/45/17 Fronts and 245/40/17 Rears. Comes with free mounting and balance, included 20 lugnuts and adapter, 4 centering rings and 4 centercaps. Seems like a good choice and hope to pull the gun in a few days!

Thanks to everyone who chimed in. I will post pics once I get them setup and I will give periodic reviews of both the rims and the tires.

Just hit the purchase button on a set of the ASA AR1s (17X7X48 and 17X8X45) with Sumitomo HTR Z IIIs (215/45/17 and 245/40/17). Free mount and balance, lugs and centering rings included, woohoo!

Not bad pricing overall...will let everyone know what I think once I get them in. After looking at a million images this week of the rims on various cars, it actually looks good and quality seems to be, at a minimum, the same as OEM, so I'll give them a go. Will post pics once I have them on along with my other mods.
