correct offsets for the s2k?

can somebody tell me what r the minimum offsets required for 16" & 17" rims?
is this the correct offsets for s2k?
17" 5x114.3 8.5, 9.5 with offset 40+

9.5 with a 40 offset? that'll stick out so far... Your car will need hydraulics for that low-rider bounce thing.

The offsets will be different depending on the width of the wheels and how wide a tire you want to use. The 40mm you mention will not work at all.

ok, say i am looking for a set of 16" or 17" w/ 7 & 8 wide, what range of offsets i should look for?

sorry, i totally don't know anything about wheels & tires.
