Default Cost of shipping wheels? How to pack?

Someone is interested in my wheels and they live in Cali (I'm in atlanta) how much would it be to send these wheels on average? How should I pack them?

Justin

You can go online to fedex or ups.com to get a generic quote. My guess on pricing would be approx $150-175. Obviously size and weight will play a large factor. Also that price I threw out would be wheels and tires.

Cool - do wheel boxes have enough room in them to account for tires? Or would I have to find some that were made for larger wheels? Do wheel places give away wheel boxes?

Is protecting the wheel enough and shipping them as is a reasonable way to ship them? As you can tell I've never dealt with shipping wheels before.

I bought some used TE37's and seller put each wheel/tire in a large box filled with packing material. Obviously, that will be an expensive way to go. You can put a protective layer over the wheel, put a round piece of cardboard over that, and then strap it together as seen here:

Wheel boxes are not big enough to account for wheels with tires. You can either use wheel boxes and cutout a section, then add some cardboard to make it bigger, or just get some cardboard and make your own boxes.

As for the actual shipping, I just tape some bubblewrap over the faces. The tire itself will provide enough cushion for the rest.

Cardboard + Saran wrap FTW. I've had about 5 sets of wheels and tires shipped to me and this is the best method, IMHO.
