Default CR Lug Nuts VS Non-CR

Hello,

I wasn't able to find an answer on google or on here. If its already been discussed, please forward the link to me. That'd be awesome.

In short, is there a difference between the CR lugnuts from the non-CR lug nuts? Does it start and end at the fact that the CR lug nuts are black?

If you want black, ball-seat lug nuts for your OEM wheels, the CR lugs are one of your only options. I think this is primarily why people are interested in them. Trying to find black, third party ball-seat lugs can be pretty tricky. I managed to find a set a couple years ago, but that particular vendor was going out of business and clearing stock. I'm not sure what your options are today.

Thanks for the info!

So basically, I could plastidip my OEM non CR lug nuts and pull off the "look" of the CRs.

Theoretically yes, though plastidip won't hold up to the rigors of lug nut torquing for very long.

I run a set of CR lug nuts on my wheels. The only difference is the color.

I'm pretty sure plastidip won't but I don't want to shell out $100 for a set of brand new OEM lug nuts (I'm cheap haha). I don't intend on taking the wheels on and off much if at all.

It is not hard to find at all. I ran red lugs like this on my OEM wheels. Same thing as CR for 1/3 the price. Also the color is the only difference for the CR lugs.

^^^ Not bad for $30!! Thanks for the link! How did the color hold up? Did it start chipping after a few turns?

If you're asking for the OEM CR lugs, the paint does start getting scratched up from an impact taking the wheels on/off all the time, but not really chipping off in chunks or anything like that.

the AP2V3 wheels have a deep seat for the lug nuts so all you see really is the top of them which stays untouched. AP2V1 wheels, etc have more exposed lug nut seats where you can see the sides easier.

The red ones are worse than the black. The red paint never seems to hold up very well. The black ones I have seen seem to hold up are long as you are careful when you take them off and put them on. Loosen and tighten by hand and it will last longer.
