using the same rear tire for both setups (245/40/17), what are the differences performance wise regarding the front tires?

I am currently running 225s in the front with kumho spt tires. I can take turns alot faster without my tires screeching as opposed to my previous 205/225 setup on my stock rims(falken 415).
