Default different readings with different gauges? which one to use?

After a long cross country move, I was out checking the tire pressure in the tires on all my cars and noticed that with one gauge the tires read ok, but with another they read low. I'm at a delimma now trying to figure out which one is correct. To look at the tires you would think they are low, but then that isn't always a good indicator. So part of me says to use the lower of the two readings. But then part of me says that I should also go by the highest of the two readings, too. Can anyone give me an idea of how to handle this. Both gauges are fairly new, although one is all metal and the other (with the higher reading) has a plastic cap on top instead of metal. Not sure if this helps things at all. TIA guys.

I hear ya! I have a dozen gauges and only 2 of them have the same readings! I have two really expensive manual ones that are identical but show different readings! I have a digital one that has a mind of it's own. I finally purchased some (like 1/2 dozen) cheap pencil shaped ones from different stores and 3 out of six showed the same readings so I'm using them now - just be warned that they don't like to be dropped on the floor.

One thing you can try is to go to different gas stations and compare with their gauges. They are normally accurate when new, the problem is you won't be able to see a 32psi reading since they jump from 30 to 35 to 40, etc. You can pump the tires to 30psi (exact) and then compare with you gauges.
