The reason for 245/45/16 is because the Honda Spec Bridgestone S0-2 is wider then all the other manufactures 225/50/16.
Therefore to get a tire from another manufacture you would need a 245/45/16 to get back to what you had before.
225 will give you a smaller size tire

sooooo many people have made this mistake and have made driving their cars very unsafe (IMO) with running 225's in other brands. If you not running OEM you MUST run 245's in the rear people, plain and simple.I personally run 255 out back.

Another Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec. stock cr size on an AP2: Aaron is right, squish city. This is a great street tire. I find it quiet and a lot less bump thump than the 050. I also find that it has worse turn-in (granted it is a much wider tire up front). It is very predictable, with smooth and predictable breakaway, but just sliidddeesss. It has higher grip than the 050, but not as crisp feeling overall.
It is a mediocre track tire and I'm not happy at all for it in dual-purpose mode. I have some R-615s and they are much better for turn-in, sliding grip and even overheating (I had an opportunity to go back to back at Thill with them). I should have gotten the XS.

225/50-16 is perfectly fine in back, and if you are running 245/45-16s you are definitely NOT running the best-gripping street tires available.
FORGET the stickie. There is MUCH more to grip and safety than a simple tread width dimension.
Die stickie die! I know it was well-intended, but now it's just driving people away from the best tires available, for no good reason.
Tire make/model is WAY more important for grip/safety than either the size designation or necessarily-arbitrarily-measured "tread width" number.
Star Specs in stock AP1 sizes are going to give more wet grip than any street tire available in 245/45-16. Or 255/45-16.
Speaking of which, who makes a 255/45-16 anyway?
On my 240sx with Koni 8611 dampers and 8k/6k ERS 245/17 all around, my Direzza * Specs pull an average of 1.1g on the street measured with a Racelogic Performancebox. That was with -3 degrees of camber up front and -1.7 in the rear, zero toe.

I would agree that the Direzzas blow the Azenis out of the water. Azenis are overrated, a lot. People just can't seem to let them die and accept that much better street tires are available.
