I would agree that the Direzzas blow the Azenis out of the water. Azenis are overrated, a lot. People just can't seem to let them die and accept that much better street tires are available.
. Some of you guys need to stop living in the past. The Azenis were in their prime years ago.

for all you f00z that question the star specs over its other budget-priced competitors (azenis, re-01r's, etc), the star specs obliterate them in every way. dont even think twice. these tires placed me top 7 at the redline time attack in buttonwillow

i'm in this boat. It's between star specs and HTRZ IIIs.

I'm afraid that when pushed, the sumitomos will wear faster and give me the same treadlife as the star specs.

Grip in the mtns + Low Tread Wear = Less Grip + Faster Wearing tires in the mtns.

I am running Star Specs right now and LOVE them over my old stand-by Toyo T1-Rs.

They are less expensive, though obviously wont last as long.
They are showing good life so far with a few thousand miles on them.
The traction and grip in the dry is just stupidly great. I feel 10 times more confident in the corners than I ever have.
In the wet, they are still really good, but a little less assured in standing water than the T1-Rs. That was pretty obvious to me just by looking at the tread pattern.

I will definitely continue using them though. I dont even push them to their limit, I know that. I'd chicken out long before I did, I'm sure.

^good to know. I've been wondering the same thing b/c I daily my car and drive a lot. I figure I drive enough that with a tire like the star spec I'll be replacing them twice a year. or at least the years. I run non-staggered so I can at least rotate. I'm definitely going to get them next and see how they work out.
I figured tires are a pretty important part of the car and I don't want to cut corners so I'm just going to suck it up as expense for owning this car.

Keep the useful reviews coming! I still stand by my review now that I'm a couple months in. I even get passengers that tell me how squishy they are compared to the S02s! Remember I'm running AP1 50/55 sizes so its an abnormality
