Default do you have to get staggered rims

I don't know much about rims, other than the fact that staggered rims for my s2k are darn expensive. I was just wondering is is possible to put the same rims size on both front and back. What are the disadvantages to it? I know this question has been asked probably a million time, so sorry for that, but I am a newbie.

Yes, the questions been asked alot. The disadvantage is that it effects the cars handling and reduces the size of your rear tires; unless you go 9" all around with aggressive race alignment and suspension. I suppose, for show and commuting its ok, but any type of performance driving I'd advise against.

To answer your question you do not have to do anything. If you want to run the same size all the way around you can.
That being said I agree with HunterEz in that you will loose handling and stability on the car. I would not recommend it.

I'm running on 225 40 R18 on all four corners. Being my daily driver it's not seeing performance driving at all, especially with the weight of those 18" Axis Super Mesh wheels. They were on it when I purchased the car with new rubber and I can't let new rubber go to waste. I'll probably wear them out (I can even rotate front to back if needed) and then trade them for a wheel I actually like. Stock height and no rubbing with +45 offsets.

you will not lose as much handling as everyone says....... the amuse togue car uses the same width wheels all the way around and well that car can out handle a lot of cars...

But its running 17x9 all around with aggressive alignment and suspension tuned for their tire setup. I don't think its the same when someone slaps on something like 17x7 all around without any tuning.

^ i agree. but the guy just asked about same width all the way around.. he mentioned nothing about 17x7 all the way around.. how would you know he wasn't thinking about going wide?? but you did mention that in your first post...... i was just stating a fact.. no need to get defensive...

I just went 17 x 7 all around. Potenza Re- 750s on ICW wheels -- gun mental Acclaims (392gs). It looks really good and handles fabulously. Course, I'm not racing it. But I'm driving it hard and can't tell the difference. Personally, I think the stagger is overrated -- at least for most driving most of us are going to do. Those of you on the track might have a small advantage.

I think you are right mromaner about the stagger being overrated. I had 225's in the front and 245 in the back which handled much better than having 215's in the front and 245 in the back. I just saw a video showing the Amuse S2000 having 255 all around and the MCR s2000 has 235 all around. I'm going to experiment and put my Work 17" rear rims with 245 tires in the front and do a few mountain passes. I will let your know how it goes. My guess is it's going to handle much better than the staggered setup. So if you see a silverstone with black work rims in the front and stock 17" rims in the back that would be me.
