Default Falken RT615 6K Launch

Hi all

I just tried to launch my car today at 6k. I am using Falken RT615 tires in the rear and they are 255's. The tires were warm as I had been driving for some time... I get the revs up at 6k and let off of the clutch and the tires slip a bit, then grab and my RPM's dropped to about 3 or 4k. Any ideas why this happened? Do I need to launch at an even higher RPM?

I appreciate your responses

either you should be revving higher because of the added grip by the 255s or you should be dumping the clutch and completely flooring it.

Dumping the clutch is pulling straight off correct? If this is the case, I did exactly that. Once I have the launch straight, I should be in VTEC when the tires grab right?

You should have popped the clutch instead of slipping it.

Try a 7K launch and go down from there. What you experienced was bogging, not good for the differential. Make sure you break the tires loose.

1. Clutch in.
2. Rev up to 6K+.
3. Clutch out while you stomp the pedal.
4.

The tires did break loose but briefly then the revs immediately dropped to about 3k. Could this be due to a weak clutch?

if it was a weak clutch, the RPM's would have went way up and you would have gone no where fast.

This goes against everything most people will tell you, but maybe try feathering the clutch a little..But don't ride it. This way you don't break anything Thats how I used to launch my AWD car. Might not be the best for the clutch, but a new clutch over a long period of launches beats a new tiff or Tranny anyday of the week.

Or, if all else fails, you could hook your car up to a giant slingshot and away you go

Did your lid happen to be off at the time? I remember whenever I tried launching with my lid off, even at redline, it would back down to 4k.

I dyno'd with my lid off today and lost 19whp and 10wtq.
