Front Wheels on Rear?
I have heard/read that if you have a flat on the rear you are to put the space saver on the front and put a front wheel/tire on the rear. If this is so it means the front tire/wheel will bolt up to the rear and have no wheel/tire clearence problems. These are both assumptions, no real life experience. If this is so, can you put both fronts on the rear and run the car this way? I understand there will be handling issues at or close to the limit, but if you were driving conservatively in dry weather what problems would you be creating? Just curious.
Yes, the manual says the spare should only go on the front.. need to have tires of the same diameter on the rear.
When one member had his rear wheels stolen (at the airport) we chose to put two spares on the front and the front wheels on the rear.. he drove it over twenty miles home.
