I recently purchased a set of the Hankook ventus v12 evos to replace the badly worn Kuhmos and Cooper zeons on my RPF1s. I chose these because of C&D July article comparing budget tires vs the Michelin PS2s. The Hankooks did very well considering how cheap these run.

Aesthetics: The profile of the hankooks are pretty standard and plain looking. The tread looks pretty aggressive though. I especially like the 'Hankook' printed on the center rib of the tire.

Noise: These tires are QUITE. I've had a slew of tires since I've owned my S. From OEMs to Fuzion ZRis to Falken Azenis and the Hankooks are by far the quietest tire I've driven on. I used to be able to hear tire howl at low speeds but since I've had these on, all I can hear are the small creaking noises from my latches.

Handling: Difficult to say because they're still new and haven't been broken in.

Ride: The tires feel soft so on the highway they're pretty forgiving. However, the sidewalls are pretty stiff since they are Extra Load tires so these do get jarring it you go over larger bumps.

Conclusion: I'm glad i picked these up, these already feel MILEs better than the Kumho MX/Cooper Zeon combo I had going on. I'm doing an auto-x at the end of the month and a HPDE in September so I'll let you guys know how these handle once they're fully broken in.

I was between these and the HTRZ IIIs, but chose the Sumitomos because there wasn't enough feedback yet on the Hankooks.

Ive had these for a few months now and I love them! They are quiet like you said, grip great, and also handle great in bad weather. Here in Korea, there is already a new version and these are the old models.

I really like the Kumho XS, but I can get the Ventus V12 245/40/17 all around for $82 each. That comes out to $328. Subtract the $50 mail in rebate and a set would cost $278. That would be $282 cheaper than the Kumho XS.

Are the Kumho XS worth $70.5 more than the Ventus per tire? Is the track performance that much superior? That is what I would like to know
