based on my calculations (done using this site: http://gs.tolan-hoechst.com/tirecalc.htm )

the 9.5" +68 has an outboard wheel increase of .881"
a 9.5" +62 has an outboard wheel increase of 1.118" (difference of only 0.237")
a 10" +76 has an outboard wheel increase of .816"

the 9.5" +55 has an outboard wheel increase of 1.393 (difference of 0.512")

Now, if you factor in the TIRE with Wheel outboard increases it would be something like this: (compared to the Stock 225 width tires on 7.5" rim)

9.5" +68 with 255 = .471"
9.5" +62 with 255 = .708"
9.5" +55 with 245 = .788 (similair to the 9.5 +62 with 255)
9.5" +55 with 255 = .983"
10" +76 with 275 = .551" (wasn't sure what width tire BatBite was running).

So you can see above why people recommend running a 245 width tire on a 9.5" wheel with the +55 offset. I've seen poeple running the BBS RGR wheel in 17x8.5 with +55 offset and 245 tire and that is an outboard wheel/tire increase of .7xx" also, as well as the BBS RGR 18x8.5+53 with 255's increase of 1.062".

I'm personally going to be running WORK Meister S1 3-piece in 18x8 +56(F) and 18x9.5 +62

With 255's you should be at a +62 or up at least with some negative camber in order to run it safely.
9.5" wide you want the offset to be at least +62 or up. If was i going to do it all over again. I would go with 18x8 with +56 offset and 18x9 with +68 offset.
