Default how to tell if tires need replacing

can someone tell me what to look for to know whether or not if i need to replace my tires? Is there a mark on the tire i can look for? i know that the tires shouldnt be bald before replacing but i am a bit weary about riding on them for more than i have to because rain is comming soon. I commute 2 hours round trip, and hearing about how some people loose control of the s in the rain.

is there a pic somewhere on this site? i have the Bridgestone Potenza RE050

tirerack info

In a nutshell, your tires have treadwear indicators inside the grooves. Their locations are denoted by small triangles on the sidewall. Once the tread reaches the treadwear indicator height, time to get new tires.

If you only drive on sunny days, you can wear the tires down to nothing, at your own risk of course.

Driving in the rain when the tires are at the wear bar is another story though. I would say replace them at 3/32" of tread depth. Take a look at the wear bar and change a little before it reaches that area. If you are in Phoenix with no rain wear them till you want to change.
If I can help let me know.
