Default I'm running the wrong rear tire sizes!

I purchased my 01 used back in March 03. I didn't know as much about the tire sizes as I do now, but apparently the previous owner purchased the same size tires front and back!! I can tell, because the lip of the wheel and the tire have a little gap.(tire should be wider) I have been driving like this for a while now, my question is, is this hurting my car? I'm sure its hurting performance, and handling, but is it actually hurting my car? It seems that it is fairly easy to "through" the rear out. They are Toyo Proxes Fz4's, and still have 60% tread left in the rears.

What size are the tires? If the rear tires are both the same size than you will not be hurting anything (except perhaps your handling depending on size).

The wheels are stock, so they are the stock front tire sizes.

I would take off your rear tires and replace with 245 Fz4's. Save the take-offs for when the fronts wear out. BTW, what size tires are they?

You would not hurt the car and the same sizes will fit front and rear. The handling is what will not be up to par. You should look at 245/45R16 on the rear and stay with the front tires.

Same thing happened to me but my mixup was done at local Bridgestone dealer. 205/55-16's at all 4 corners.

No damage but handling seems different from stock setup.

Long story short....never give a "verbal" order over phone to service garage or dealer. Get work order in writing.

LOL! The previous owner put yoko es100s on the back instead of s02s. But of course, he got the wrong size of 225/50/16 instead of the 245/45/16s. Easy mistake to make.

Looks like I'm off to tire rack to get new rear oem s02! Bummer, the rears only have 4k miles on them.

Guess that the yokos are off to ebay!
