i like the look (and price) of the asa ar1 for my s2000.
your site recommends 205-45-17 and 225-40-17.. (offsets front 48 and rear 45)
i figure this is either a mistake or they will rub with wider tires. please confirm.
i would like at least to go the stock '04 sizes 215-45 and 245-40...
can i without rubbing????
I also plan to go with h&r oem sport springs .75" and .6" drop at a later date.
will this setup rub????
in addition, i would prefer these rims in hyper silver finish but they are not avail..
i found a place in santa ana, ca (www.wheel-repairs.com) that will strip and re-powder coat in hyper silver for $110 ea.
does anyone at tirerack know of anyone who does hyper silver finishing? (preferably in michigan)
look forward to your response... thanks for the time..

I actually would recommend the 215/45R17 and 245/40R17 front and rear. I would not recommend powder coating the wheels. You have to be very careful when powder coating wheels. Too much heat and the wheels will become soft. The wheels come with a stainless steel lip that would not powder coat as easily.
Just got these wheels and tires from tirerack. This is what was recommended. A rep did call and tell me the back would stick out a little in the back. Haven't had a chance to drive them much, but they don't rub. Good luck.
225s on the rear? HA! The S2000 oversteers enough with the stock 225s (that are actually 245s). But put 225s on the back? That's a good recipe for some serious oversteer. At least you know if you ever have an accident that you can blame TireRack for recommending the wrong sized tire. Jim gets it right, but for some reason TireRack places more emphasis on the 225 rubber stamp on the side of S02s than the actual width of the S02s.
nobody,
you might be right here... i just checked wheel & tire fitment
for a 2004 on tirerack and the same rims are available but
they recommend the wider 215/45 and 245/40's... i don't believe there
were any suspension or wheel spacing changes from 2000-2004.
right? so the wider tire sizes should be ok on a model year 2000...??? what do you guys think?
The web site is what you are referring to. It goes off of OE tires and can't think about the S02 tire being wider than other tires. Call me and I can help. I recommend the 215/45R17 and 245/40R17 on the car. Like I said before the performance is a little better this way with a better front to rear stagger.
There is nothing wrong with the 205/50R17 and 225/45R17 on the car but the other size will perform better. Not everybody is looking for the best handling though. Some people just want the look and don't drive the car hard.
