Jim, question...
Interested in buying some new rear tires. I know the RE940s are an all season tire, but my fronts are still in very good condition. I figure I should change to different tires after my fronts are completely gone too.
My most important preferences are:
1) Excellent traction in wet (car has spun twice, most likely, driver error and worn out tires...but nonetheless a very important factor now). I'm in So Cal, where there isn't much rain, but this is why an all season tire was chosen as the tires in the first place.
2) Treadlife
I do mostly highway driving, no track and very minimal canyon driving.
I also have been reading about how a 245 in the rear is necessary, but Costco put 225s on the rear (since their computer said so), which is one reason I think the back end is coming out so easily. I'm running a stock setup, so please suggest the appropriate dimensions. Does the RE940 even come in a 245? I can't find any info on the RE940 on the Bridgestone website anymore, only 930 and 950. Did they discontinue the 940?

The best I have for what you are talking would be the Dunlop SP5000. They come in the 245/45R16 and in a longer wearing tire they would give the best handling.
By the way the RE940 is not available in the 245 size.
Let me know if I can help.
