Default Looking for Advise on offset/tire sizing options

I've been looking into having the stock wheels widened. I'd like to move the rears to the front for a 7.5" wide rim up front and widen the old fronts from 6.5" - 8.5"(maybe 9.0") and move them to the rear. If I understand my offset's correctly, this will put my new fronts inward 10mm from stock and my rears outward 10mm from stock. I was thinking I could use a 10mm spacer on the front to get the offset back to stock and just leave the rears alone.

My goal is a wider rim/tire combination on the rear without screwing up the stock handling balance of the car too much.

Does this sound like a good idea to you guys? Will this combination even fit? Im sorry I am a bit of a newb at this stuff.

Lastly, if the 9.0" wide rim will fit w/ the +55 offset, what tire would you guys reccomend for maximum contact patch?

Thanks,

Chris

I have never heard of widening a rim I suppose it could be done, but certainly wouldn't be economically viable. Get yourself some new rims.

Oh they do it locally here, a place called "Wheels America." It is $200 a rim to go 2" wider, so it'll run me about $400. Alot of Supra guys do it and it works well for them.. Plus I like the aesthetic's of the stock wheels. Do you have any opinion on the offsets I will end up with or the best tire for a 16X9? Thanks for the reply!

Don't forget that the center bore is different front and rear....
