I've heard they won't patch vr or wr rated tires due to insurance reasons - hopefully someone can post the correct data. This is what I was told at a local costco when I have a nail...

You want to get them patched (from the inside) not plugged (from the outside). They'll tell you whether the nail has damaged the sidewall in which case the tire can't be plugged. Don't get too worried about this. I haven't heard of a patched tire failing in maybe 20 years.

You may want to try a local Disount Tire store. They will normally do the repair no charge. Depending where the nail is they would be able to patch and plug the tire. A repaired tire does loose its speed rating though. If you are a real aggressive drive you may want to buy new tires.
I have repaired the tires on my BMW before with no problems.
I hope this helps.

They are one of our largest customers. They can also repair tires where we can't do that locally. I just try to help in any way I can.

I would always go for a new tyre in those circumstances.

I had one of my rear tires patched for free at America's Tire (it's the same company as Discount Tire, but in Northern California. Both companies are listed on their paperwork). It's an excellent service that they provide, and to repay them I tell everyone I know to get their tires there. I've bought tires there and I've had tires from Tire Rack mounted by them.

Although I haven't tested whether the WR speed rating has been affected by the patch, I have autocrossed several times since the repair and I haven't had any problems. The patched tire maintains its pressure as well as the other tires.

I had the same problem on my right rear SO2. I had it patched, and have had NO problems with the repair some 2000 miles later. One thing, go to a GOOD tire shop & they can tell you if the tire can be repaired OR if it needs to be replaced (ya see the issue of trust here?).

Yep, mine was repaired for $5.00 although I'd think twice if I were rat racing all over the place and expecting the tire to stay in one piece.
