Default Need 2 Rear Tires - 245-45-16 On Ap1 Rims Okay ?

I've got Bridgestone Re-11's on my front wheels, in ap1 sizes on ap1 rims (205-55-16). I want to get 2 Re-11's for the rear but I can only get them in 245-45-16 . The specs say they can be used on 7.5 inch rims if needed. Street driven car only, suspension mods are Bilstein PSS coilovers with mild drop, and CR front sway bar, everything else is stock. Other than some understeer is there any reason not to run these rear tire size ? I'd like to stick with the Re-11's, if for some reason it is not recommended to run this size on ap1 rims then I'd have to look for a different brand in 225-50-16 as my second choice but I don't want to mix and match if at all possible. Thanks for any replies and advice.

I don't have any personal experience with that combo but it is probably the best choice, especially since you already have RE-11 on the front. There is even a sticky thread (albeit outdated) that recommends 245/45/16.

Thanks for the reply, as you noted I think keeping the same tires front and rear would be my first choice. I do recall all of the discussion about factory tires being as wide as 245's , and all that jazz. I don't want to get into that with this thread, I just want to be sure that 245 tires will work okay with 7.5 inch rims. Thanks for the reply on this and the information.

You can get them on Tirerack.com, Costco also has them here in Canada, and a local tire shop I deal with has them also here in Canada. I just ordered 2 tires the other day, should be here on the weekend.

I think they are $175 US on Tirerack.com, approx. , they are more money here in Canada due to the dollar exchange but I don't have to pay shipping cost on top of the price so I ordered them locally.

Ouch, and I thought the RE050 17" went for a premium(and they do)!

Yeah maybe just a tad cheaper than Re50's and about the same price as RE-71's and Dunlop Star Specs. I've enjoyed the RE-11's on the front and they were out of production for a while, so I'm jumping at the chance to get a set for the rear despite the price. They will be a major step up from my current SO-2's on the rear.

You will surely need the back end planted for the trip through the Dragon, all will be great and wish I could justify driving 16hrs to get there.

Yes for sure Todd, my last trip to the Dragon the car wasn't balanced very well because of the front tires being RE760's so I put RE-11's on the front after I got back. This time if I returned with So-2's on the rear I'd probably suffer from bad handling again. I think this is the way to go to eliminate any possible issues.

The drive is going to be 12 hours one way for me, I avoided going to the Dragon for years because of that, but sometimes you just have to say " what the hell" . I hope to be back there in 2017 if everything goes according to plan. You should try to do this once if at all possible. Sure wish I lived closer but oh well.

Oh for sure, one thing that will have to be done!

I will certainly do it one year but I am planning the Mont Tremblant trip though the mountains in Quebec this year. I have met a great member from there that has done the trip for years and said it can't be missed. Also mentioned that they had around 50 S2K's at last year's event with a few NSX's. Not too bad for Canada!
